Discover the magic of this famous Mayan archaeological site, Cahal Pech, ancient Mayan kingdom followed by a delicious Belizean lunch.Depart the pier on an air-conditioned motor coach for the scenic 2-hour ride to the beautiful Mayan Ceremonial Palaces of Cahal Pech. Your knowledgeable guide will narrate the history of Belize (formerly British Honduras), pointing interesting sites and describing the daily life of modern-day Belizeans as you pass through Creole villages and the outskirts of the capital. Finally arrive at Cahal Pech. There is a small but interesting museum on-site that houses a collection of artifacts that were discovered during the excavation of Cahal Pech. Your guide will lead you through, explaining what the different displayed items were used for, giving you better insight as to what the daily life of the Maya was like. Take jungle canopied walk to the amazing Palace compound with over 30 structures. This active archaeological site includes 7 plazas, numerous temples and residential buildings connected by "corbel arched" passageways. Get ready for a real Belizean lunch. The famous dish of rice and beans with chicken and sides, awaits you at The Orange Restaurant and Gift Gallery, an open-air, garden view restaurant. Enjoy your peaceful ride back to the cruise ship pier after lunch.

Travel time from the pier to Cahal Pech is approximately two hours.
Climbing the ruins is not allowed during or after rain due to safety reasons.
Light cool clothing, comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sunscreen are recommended.
Participants should be able to navigate a few higher than normal steps and walk a 2 acre compound to complete the guided tour itinerary.
Temperatures can reach the 90s during the summer.
Participants should be fit enough to walk this distance un-aided and not have health concerns that may place them at risk during their tour participation.
